Excellent article by Shanshan Ma because it is packed with screenshots and examples that really illustrate the problems

I still find it fascinating that this problem hasn't been cracked on mobiles - back in 2007 I was working on something that was essentially Spotify over 3G for Vodafone, and they couldn't make that a success either.

The suggestion seems very sensible, although it is noted "There are of course implementation issues, not to mention the fact that we have no idea if Twitter has any interest in this proposal."
