The market for iPhone news apps is a unique and narrow commercial space, which means that the potential for market distortion by the BBC is much greater. Honestly? I reckon that coders should know a little colour theory, yeah. Enough to speak the language, at least. And some typography. It's basic literacy, innit?
(For that matter, everyone should know what a value proposition looks like, how to read a business plan, and how to build a financial model in a spreadsheet.)
