New BBC row as Blue Peter competition winner revealed as daughter of programming chief | Mail OnlineLooking forward to the user comments on this one, as I suspect that the details that the entry was submitted in March, her dad doesn't start work until later this month, the judging panel only featured one BBC person out of 11 and the designs were presented anonymously won't get much of a look-in :-)

Never mind the fare rises, it was this that caught my eye: "The upgrade of Victoria Underground station — which has to be closed at peak times because demand is so high — will not be completed until 2018. Twelve other station refits that were to have been done by Metronet, including Bank, Charing Cross and Paddington, will be shelved for three years."

"There's evidence that Yahoo's $100 million "It's Y!ou" ad campaign might actually be hurting the company's brand."

Matthew's put together a web trend map of members of the London IA group - all of our blogposts, tweets, piccies and links laid out across the city. @cennydd @harrybr and @andybudd are at least placed in the south of the city, even if Brighton doesn't fit in the scale ;-)

Edywn Collins manager on the fact that Warner sell his tunes digitally even though they have no right to: "Warner Music Group has no connection with Edwyn whatsoever and yet they are still corporately arrogant enough to steal Edwyn's copyright and God knows what else from others. A guy from myspace advised me to treat their copyright department with kid gloves if I wanted a result. It didn't work. If the shoe was on the other foot they'd have been down on us like a ton of bricks. The next time a major tries to take ANYONE to court for copyright infringment, I'm volunteering my services as a witness for the defense. What's sauce for the goose.... "

"Editors have launched a new site that gives the impression that they have hacked into Google Street View, using it to stream their new album, 'In This Light And On This Evening'. The site, Editorsofficial.com/streetview, allows users to navigate around selected London areas. Exploring the locations online reveals new night-time images commissioned by the band, along with songs from the new album being streamed."

Melanie Phillips can't seem to bear the thought of the Conservatives putting a Muslim on the telly, even if it is to take part in a debate featuring the BNP when the issue of immigation and integration is bound to loom large. Melanie would much rather see a debate between a white middle-class Conservative and white middle-class Nick Griffin.

Stuart Cruikshank's slides from last night's "London IA in the pub"
Regarding your second link, I'm saddended that the work to make six Underground stations step-free will also be scrapped.
Not sure which six stations were scheduled for work, but it's really disturbing how hard it is for disabled people to travel on the London Underground.
Step-free access is also useful for parents as well, as I've just discovered
Perhaps Phillips realises that most of the BNP's support comes from disaffected xenophobic tories, so anything that might put them off the tories (such as seeing a muslim) will be bad for her favoured party's levels of support.
