"This blog post even spawned a followup five days later so Slattery could point to blogger Martin Belam of Currybetdotnet, who had taken a 'humorous hit back' at my argument. Belam has five suggestions for what else newspapers could eliminate to illustrate their cultural significance. His contribution to the debate isn't really that funny, so I'll leave it for you to discover should you wish". Well, that's me well and truly told and not linked to, isn't it?

"Next month, a new episode of The Simpsons is to have its premiere in the UK for the first time in the show's history". Lots of publicity around The Simpsons at the moment, but I note that it all seems to be around landmarks like new HD titles, shown first in UK, advance order makes it longest running series, rather than the actual *content* of the show. Still, it is when they get Ken Dodd and Hale & Pace in as guests that you'll know the show is on its last legs ;-)
