Euro 2008 host cities on the web: Zürich
Over the last week or so I've been looking at the official websites of the host cities of Euro 2008, which starts on Saturday. So far I've covered all four of the Austrian venues - Salzburg, Klagenfurt, Innsbruck, Wien. Yesterday I featured the first Swiss venue, Bern.
Zürich will be featuring France, Italy and Romania in matches from this year's 'group of death', and today I want to look at how fans from those countries will be able to find out about their trip in advance.
Zürich
The matches in Zürich will be held in the Letzigrund Stadion, and there are plenty of ways to find out about how to get there and what to do. One of the most helpful sites is euro.zuerich.com. Aside from the matches in the stadium, the city will be hosting a 'Fan Zone' with 3 giant screens and the capacity for 45,000 spectators. That is actually 15,000 more than the stadium itself.
Information is provided in English, German, French and Italian, which leaves the Romanian fans out of the picture.
The official municipal site also carries information about the upcoming tournament.
Back on euro.zurich.com, the local tourism board is advertising that it has high-definition footage of the city available for media and tourist organisations that want to use it in their Euro 2008 programming.
If you can't get to Zürich for the tournament, you can keep an eye on what is happening with the city webcam. It is a streaming video camera, and you can remotely control it from the web. I have to confess that in doing all of my research for Euro 2008, spinning the Zürich webcam around 360° was by far the most fun!
Finally, there is also a PDF magazine to download - Zürich '08.

In the next part of this series, I'll be looking at the websites being used to inform people about their forthcoming Euro 2008 visit to Genève.
