"North West Tonight had a prize of McFly playing at a local school. The BBC did not inform viewers when it discovered that the band would not travel outside Greater Manchester, and produced a shortlist including 2 that were 35 miles outside Manchester".
-
"Finjan estimates it is infecting 30,000 web pages a day, and that the number of infected domains tops 10,000. Finjan plans to have a list available, naming websites that it says have been infected". If it isn't small enough for dial-up, I'm safe.
-
"Students will be able to submit coursework by iPod for a revised A-level in media studies, an exam board has announced". Fairly poor reporting here I'd wager - I can't exactly see a wave of 6th formers posting off their iPods to exam boards...
-
"That's why we wrote what we did. It's not an excuse for it. The article that we posted was irresponsible, both for failing to check on the situation properly, exposing the system to spammers, and encouraging spamming itself". From Danny Sullivan. Ouch.
-
"Want to get your website seen by movie fans worldwide? We've got 200 extras that need costumes so do you have any branded t-shirts, hoodies, hats or any other kind of merchandise that we could drop into the movie?". SEOs will put their URL anywhere!
-
"Two weeks after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto and on the brink of vital elections, what does News at Ten believe to be the most important story in Pakistan? That one of Princess's Di's old squeezes lives there".
-
"More than 3.5 million programmes were viewed on the iPlayer over the Christmas period. Around 1 million people visited bbc.co.uk/iplayer between Christmas Day and January 7, and the most watched programmes were Doctor Who and Extras". Go Doctor Who!
-
Estonia is pretty forward thinking with their use of OpenID smart-cards - there are over a million in use and 80% of the population has an OpenID
-
"TV chiefs in Portugal are planning to make a 26-episode series about Madeleine McCann". The Express is right to be out-raged. I mean, trying to make money by exploiting this story over and over and over again is their exclusive domain, right?
Haha! You're so right, Martin. Some of the mail I've received since putting the post up has been hilarious.
We've had a pretty good response and, as a result, will be shooting a very specific scene in the movie to accommodate the shameless plugging of brands :)
Thanks for the link, by the way. Very much appreciated.
