Google announced a new feature of their feed reader: They were going to show all your "shared" items to all your Gmail contacts, starting now. No need to opt-in, no way to opt-out.

The summary is misleading - people are complaining that items in the 'shared items' area are now shared with all your gmail contacts (which automatically includes anyone with a gmail account you've sent mail to), rather than having to manually add them.
